24-hour Alumni Support
Alumni coordinators are available 24 hours a day for alumni experiencing a crisis, needing information about services in their community, or who just want to check in and say hi. We encourage clients who’ve recently left to stay in touch by text or phone, especially during the first transition home when typical challenges of life often arise.
Alumni Dinners
Throughout the year, our Alumni Manager travels to major cities in Canada to host complimentary dinners for alumni in that area. Currently, alumni dinners are offered 2-4 times a year in Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Ottawa, and Toronto.
Refresher Weekend Program
Our alumni are welcome to take advantage of free refresher stays anytime to reconnect, regroup, and reground with staff and peers. Refresher weekend program participants are encouraged to attend large group activities and share their stories as a way of giving back.
Recovery Coaching
We include in-person coaching in over a dozen Canadian cities to help alumni stay active and engaged in their personal recovery. Returning home after treatment can be difficult for many clients and we want to be there for them. Coaches are available via phone and online appointments if clients cannot meet in person.
Alumni Support Meetings
Weekly and bi-weekly alumni support meetings are available across Canada as a way to connect alumni with one another and let them re-experience the power of the peer group. These meetings are facilitated by counsellors and recovery coaches.
Sober Sports
Our parent company sponsors the non-profit, Sober Sports, which offers sports for individuals recovery in select cities. These activities, such as floor hockey, are designed so that people in recovery can reconnect with other alumni, be physically active, and have fun all at the same time!
Regional Offices
Our satellite locations serve new clients, alumni, and their families. You can reach us at each location in person, over the phone, or by email. Find the office nearest you:

What You Need to Know About Relapse
Every single client has a unique history and set of problems. This means there is no predicting how long it will take each person to develop a healthy, meaningful life without using drugs and alcohol. If you’ve ever been ill, you know that it’s impossible to predict exactly when you will recover. When you are going to treatment, the same lack of predictability applies.
Many of our clients sign up for our minimum 30-day program and find near the end that they aren’t ready to leave because of a couple of issues they are still working on. These clients often stay a couple of weeks longer, sometimes even for a couple of months. Other clients feel very ready to go at the end of 30 days and return to their home communities to work with local service providers for aftercare.
Alumni Program
For clients who leave us and discover down the road that they are still struggling to find stability or have relapsed, returning for more help is a popular option. We encourage clients to see their relapse as a sign they did not get enough help for a particular issue while they were with us, instead of viewing themselves as a failure.
In our experience, it is normal for people to return to treatment for a length of time before being able to truly create a stable recovery. When alumni return to see us, we help them shift their view of relapse as a failure to a teachable moment. There is a clear connection between the willingness to keep trying after a relapse and eventual long term recovery. It’s important not to give up.
